In 2020, Sharon Brewer researched the vitality of the RCIA process in Australian parishes for the period 2017–19 as part of her Master of Theological Studies at the Australian Catholic University.
The research included an electronic survey which was distributed to all parish priests earlier this year. The survey collected quantitative data, such as the number of catechumens and candidates that were fully initiated, as well as seeking feedback on how the process was conducted and what support might be needed for this important ministry.
Although there was a low response rate to the survey, there is much to learn from the information that was provided by the participants.
