Dr Peter Holmes

Peter Holmes

How is the Holy Spirit influencing Australian culture and arts?

Fewer people than ever are seeking out our places of worship, but millions of people are attracted to music, movies, television and computer gaming content and spend significant portions of their lives seeking it out, consuming it and talking about it with friends, in workplaces, and online. This presentation begins by recognising what is good, true and beautiful in mass media, what clue this gives us to people's wants and needs and how this can provide us with some valuable starting points for evangelisation in the modern world.

Dr Peter Holmes was raised an evangelical, trained and served as a Lutheran Minister and also worked in Christian Radio before working in counseling, consulting and teaching roles within the Catholic Archdioceses of Melbourne and Sydney. He spent 6 years as the Manager of Studies for Catholic Adult Education Sydney. Since 2007, Peter has lectured in Scripture, Theology and biblical languages (Hebrew and Greek), and Marriage and Sexuality. His PhD was on the theology of masculinity. Peter hosted "This Catholic Life", a Catholic podcast for two years. Peter is married with eight children.
